Hasting River Wagyu (HRW) specialises in producing great tasting, superior quality beef at a sensible price. Selected Wagyu bulls are crossed with Angus or Holstein females to produce quality calfs traceable from birth to plate.

Farm History
HRW operates from the historical property “Letterewe”, situated on the Hastings River, just two kilometers from Wauchope and 20 kilometers inland from Port Macquarie on the Mid North Coast of NSW. The property boasts a strong historical connection to the Hastings region being one of the first settled farms.
The Farm
The Farm is run by the Trotter family, using the business name of Letterewe Pastoral Company. Letterewe was a traditional dairy farm when purchased in 2000 and is now being developed using bio-dynamic principles to reduce chemical inputs. Productive soils, natural pasture and quality beef is the future of the operation.
Production
Calves are bred at Letterewe or transferred to the farm from contracted producers between 6 to 12 months old. They are grazed on lush riverflat pasture until they weigh 350 – 400kgs when they are introduced to a finishing grain ration in combination with pasture. Most animals will add 50kgs in this time to reach their finished weight. Carcass weights are 220-260kgs.

Product
The HRW product is a first cross (F1) Wagyu/Angus or Wagyu/Holstein animal
that achieves tenderness and taste of Wagyu without the excessive marbling.
The carcass is usually larger that other beef and of higher quality providing
a superior, tender eating experience. The product can be produced at an
affordable price.
